running rich all the time

so my car runs rich all the time..i mean from start up, through all the gears and everything. Its so bad that i can't even get up to boost because it starts to sputter really bad..could it be a bad mas? or any other ideas or how i can check it? thanks for the help

Boost leak test will never hurt.

How do you know you're running rich? Have you checked your plugs/wires? Do you have a logger?

Please be more specific with your description.

Boost leaks generally cause poor performance (loss of power) and a RICH condition as metered air is leaving the system while the fuel to be injected has already been calculated. Even if you can hit full boost (with a boost leak) you are losing out -- the turbo has to work overtime (spin faster) to maintain peak boost. This will tend to increase intake temps, too. So a boost leak, which will tend to make you run rich, can actually lead to detonation as well!

my a/f gauge is spiked all the way up, im running through gas like crazy, and there's black smoke..also smells rich..does anyone have a write up for how to do a boost leak test? thanks

Check your O2 sensor. Mine is a N/T so i wouldnt know about a boost leak problem. But i have the same problem with mine running really rich all the time and it will "chug" on me alot because it so rich. I know my problem is my 02 sensor.
