Running open downpipe

I am planning on going to the track Tuesday and am wanting to run an open downpipe. Do I run any risk of hot exhaust gases damaging the underside of my car? Or will I be fine if I leave the heatshield?

No it'll be fine.

As long as you have the downpipe on, you'll be fine.

If you run no downpipe, you'll melt your oil filter.

I'm assuming the exhaust will still be hot, but won't melt anything correct?

It will be hot but you won't melt anything. It'll just be loud as hell.
