toronto,
hey guys, curious if this is wise or stupid, running no intake pipe or air filter, and juss putting a fine metal screen in front of the turbo, and holding it down with something...

i have the maf-t btw....

thanks

your takeing a risk. but its soo do able. use 2 peices of metal screen and fit them to the houseing then put a peice of mesh inbetween em so it can get all the impurities. then clamp it all down with a hose clamp. good luck tho..

Why would having less material cause more air resistance? Not being a smartass, im just confused.

Mesh isn't very porous or whatever the word is, the gaps are very close together.

and what if you suck the mesh into the turbo OMG

The mesh might work, but why not just attach a K&N or another filter dirrectly to the tubo?

That way, you your air is still filtered, and there wouldnt be much resistance from the intake pipe.

Why would you do this if your still running a t25? A filter will flow more air than the t25 can take.

On the dyno with smaller turbo's I've actually made more power with a pipe and filter. One reason being you can draw colder air farther away from the turbo, I think it may also help with velocity of the airflow.

only reason i asked is because my stock 1g k&n wont work anymore, as it only fits in the air box... so I gotta buy another one....
no biggie, thanks guys.
