run motor with no waterpump/timing cover?

I had a leak coming from somewhere behind my timing cover but wasnt sure if it was the crank seal, oil pump seal or oil filter housing. I have the timing cover off and im curious if i can run the motor for maybe 2 minutes just to see where the leak is coming from. this would be with no timing cover, water pump, power steering, alternator, or a/c. any ideas?

Yes you can, just dont let it overheat, your gonna have lights n the dash also, but dont worry about them.

Our motors already heat up fast, I wouldn't turn it on without proper coolant flow.

-Yes you can, like above said, you'll get an light on the dash, just keep an eye on the temp gauge, you'll be fine.

Pop your coolant cap also. If the engine starts to overheat that will boil out and let you know (boiling point of water when not pressurized is still in the safe range for your engine).
