rpms messed up?

hey guys i have a question whenever i floor my 91 eclipse gs non turbo the rpms dont go all the way up. the rpms go to about 5000 and then the car shifts. but correct me if im wrong isn't it supposed to go to 7000 before it shifts. may it be the tps or something thanx

well since your car shifts on its own ill assume you have a auto, unless you got the magic stick... ive only owned 1 auto, but they arent made to hit redline untill 4th/final gear. thats why m/ts are faster than autos for the most part. you could get a shift kit and a high stall converter i beieve it is.

but correct me if im wrong don't the 2.0L dohc make peak horsepower at 6500 rpms. i just got my car shifting again since i bought it and i dont remember how it shifted and accelerated. and maybe u will know on normal driving at what mph does 4th gear go on?
