rough start up

When I start up my eclipse it will start poorly. It will start but it will almost stall out. Sometimes I need to push on the gas to keep it on. What's my problem? It will idle at around 1k rpm. Shouldn't it be a little higher?

Idle should be a little under 1k, usually 850-900rpm.

I've witnessed a lot of times that a bad fuel pressure regulator can cause rough startups. Are there any other symptoms or is the car just hard to start?

ive had the same problem. real ruff idle at start up for about 5 mins or so then it will go to a normal idle.. odd thing is that my biss is all the way down. after i replaced my fuel pump with a walbro 255 it did get a bit beter idle and less "bad idle time" if you will. i have a afpr to put in and it does seem that the stock fpr could be an issue, since the am fuel pump helped a bit. idk its been an issue since i had the car. but fuel does seem to be the main issue. its confussing.

Yeah, it was fine before and after I installed the new AFPR. I leave my car sitting in my garage. I drive it every other day.

Sounds like you have enough fuel but what about a good hot spark. check that next.

Check your Coolant Temp Sensor.
When you start your car cold it should idle at around 2k, when it's WARM it should be at 800. Jesus people.
Check timing, do a compression test while you're at it too. Post more information. Are there any drivability issues?

... That's how my car is on every cold start, sometimes I have to let it idle for few minutes but my problem is intentional. I removed the whole bottom part of the throttle body to have less places for a vacuum/boost leak to occur. There are two sensors on that bottom part that control the throttle open until engine warms up, it could also be that one of those sensors is faulty.

ya, the idle air control sensor, when off or bad it will idle very high. when going bad i have no idea what it does.. mine was just disconected. but a faulty IAC can make your car do alot of crazy things.. try testing the ohms on the 6 conectors in the sensor 1-2 2-3 3-4 4-5 and 5-6 all ohms tested on a good IAC will read 28. mine read 10 but i thingk my stupid voltmeater is bad..make sure the sensor is at ambient temp. hot will give you random readings. if it is bad you can get one at a junk yard for like 25 bux, a new one will run you 120 so make sure you know its bad first.. all dsms even nt ones used the same sensor. i got my exstra one off a 92 talon nt.

What do you mean by Vacuum line disconnected?
I will check out the coolant temp sensor.

on your fuel pressure regulator there is a port for a vacuum line, disconnect that and adjust the pressure to 43.5lbs while car is at idle.

The fuel pressure regulator you put on is obviously the culprit. You didnt set it right...

Well, It is adjusted right. I need to readjust it with the vacuum line off. I'll do that later today and see how it works out.
