Rings get stuck on pistons

so we are rebuilding a 6 bolt n/t motor

everything is tore down, de glazed the cylinder walls

and while we were setting the rings on my turbo pistons that are going into the block we seen that the rings get stuck on one side. the the whole ring except like a centimeter fits but its not free in it. that one little part is stopping the ring from moving freely inside of its groove.

So my question is, is there a file or something they make that would smooth that tiny area out so the rings would fit smoothly inside it.

And what could cause this? just the heat from inside the walls warped the ring groove or whatt?

oh and will i nnotice a difference between turbo and n/t cams?

anyone have the same problem?

Are the pistons new or the old ones? If they r the old one could be some oil dried up ever so slightly. They do have some extremely small files at harbor freight if u have one close by you could also try neq rings that may help. Are you putting the correct ring in the correct slot. I know the first and second rings are not interchangeable. I am not sure pics will always give us a better idea of what is going on for future reference. Good luck.

But yes they are older pistons and i think you understand what i was trying to say ha ha.
I just didn't want to file a little out, and have it throw off the compression or something,

Might just need to clean the lands out. Try taking an old ging, break it, and use it to scrape out the old deposits.
