Powder coat+2 you will be alot more happy witht he end result..I painted my stock wheels with 99 cent sray paint and turned out just fine,, But it will most likely chip away sooner than I want to..Good thing my car doesn't leave it's home..

Dupli-Color has some good products.
It's not the paint that matters that much, it's how well you prepare the wheels for paint.

I used Dupli-Color High Performance Wheel Coating spray paint. I has been two years and they are still holding up great. I threw on a fresh out around the edge to clean it up after I got new tires put on but you really can't go wrong. It's $7 for a can you can do all of them for that cost. Then if they ever get messed up it's just $7 for more. Powder Coating is pretty expensive, $50-100 per rim.

ive come to find out the kind of paint you use is only half of the issue...its doing all the steps, al lthe prep work, and doing it right that makes it look good. My old wheels were 99 cent rattle can, and lasted almost 2 years before i redid them. There wasnt one person who didnt think they were PC'd.

Many years ago, one of my rims cracked (American Eagle gave me a new one for free after calling and then stopping by) but in the meantime I used the stock 2g swirlies and painted all but the edge of the rim gunmetal grey (similar to many of these).

I just used masking tape, I think. I spent quite a while masking off the polished rim area. I painted them while on the car using tons of newspaper to protect my car.

I don't remember the paint, but it was spray paint - something pretty good quality from Lowe's. One rim got one scratch, other than that they were fine for a while until I got my new Eagle rim.

Seems that paint sticks really well if you clean them really good and use the paint properly (proper temp/humidity/no wind/in shade).

I would powdercoat them if you were certain you wanted black, if not completely certain I would try plastidip.

PLastidip, if you want to remove it after the black wheel fad.

Also what finish are you looking for? Matte, Gloss, etc...

I agree on trying out plastidip but dont find black wheels as a fad? In my opinion black wheels will always look good.
