I want to make my car have a ride like a bmw or caddy. I don't want to spend thousands and thousands of dollars though. I plan on buying new shocks and springs, and i was wondering if anyone here knew what would make the best ride for my car. What other upgrades could i also do to have it ride like a bmw?

If you're talking about making your car ride soft, and comfortable, then I suggest a tire with a taller sidewall, with a soft compound. Buy something like: 195/70/14R, and then set the PSI to 23 or so on all 4 tires. A tall sidewall will compress more under a bump, and wil be more supple.

If you want softer springs (which I don't recommend, because stock spring rates are soft as-is), go get some worn-in/ high milage springs, from a car that is lighter than yours, and see if those will fit on your stock shocks.
For example: if you used the springs from a 1985 Honda CRX HF which curb weight was 1700 pounds, and the springs had 200,000 miles on them, and installed them on your heavy eclipse, you'll have a very soft ride.

Please don't use BMW as an example of a car that handles like a caddy, or has super soft ride. The BMW Z4 roadster, or several of the M3 coupes are set-up with more handling oriented suspension, than a super soft comfort ride.

Also, please be more specific with your question.

Ok, i am in the market for some suspension that will make a more comfortable ride than stock. I don't want anything really stiffer. I want some shocks and springs, or coilovers, that will handle well, but also adapt to the road. I want a suspension set up that will give me a lot more comfortble ride than stock

Silk purse does not equal sow's ear.

You'll need a fairy godmother to change a DSM's ride that much. You can make it less choppy, and less responsive, or just plain mushy. But it won't start to ride like a car twice its price.

You can specify your own spring rates with Ground Control coilovers. I don't know enough about suspension to suggest what spring rates to go with or what shocks to put with them. Maybe Paul can answer that.
