Rev limit question?

I was going about 115 down the track and i hit rev limit is this bad it was in third gear on the automatic and it hit the rev limit for about a second then i got off it. Is this bad? Stock rev limit

its not bad unless leave it on rev limit for a while or if u constently hit it all the time

The rev-limiter is there to prevent damage, if your engine is in otherwise good condition your engine should not be harmed.

115mph in the 1/4? Hitting rev limiter happens, atleast we know its there and doesnt keep you from over reving if your not paying attention. We all know what happens when u hold it to long tho.

assuming you are full throttle since u were on a track your trans should shift right on/right before the factory rev limit there should be no bouncing off the limiter while in drive or any drive gear on an auto trans.....please correct me if im wrong

Yea sounds like your tranny is about ready for a rebuild...time for upgrades

yes the overdrive/4th gear is out

yeah and its in good condition to me. No leaks at all doesn't burn oil or coolent. It has a rebuilt head with a new head gasket and water pump and new radiator fans because the previous owner said it blow white smoke at about 149k and now its at 154k with a bigger turbo etc, and she runs strong
