Reuse stock head bolts

Ive got a 1g 7 bolt engine and we are doing a head gasket change. Is it acceptable to reuse the factory head bolts?

Stop being a cheapass and just buy ARP headstuds and do it right the first time..

They're studs, and no - you don't reuse TTY fasteners.

Thanks tips, thought never crossed my mind, however, this is a $300 car, thats not street legal, that we use for autocross just for fun, so if I can save $100 on studs and still get another year out of the car, thats what I am going to do.

And I did not think that the 1g bolts were torque to yield, I thought only the 2g (with the two sizes) were tty?

Can anyone else verify?

Stock 1g head bolts are better than ARPs.

All 7-bolt head bolts (yes, even in 1Gs) are torque to yield and should not be reused. However, the service limit length for these bolts is 99.4mm for the shank; if any one of them measures 99.4mm or longer, they definitely need replacing. If they all measure under 99.4mm, it is up to you whether to reuse them or not. I'm of the opinion you shouldn't, regardless.
