[RESOLVED] Seafoam problems

12oz is good - like i said above, don't be stupid with it. It WILL hydrolock your engine if you do not limit the amount of water that can be sucked up. However, you need to make sure enough is getting sucked in there to do the job. Too little and it won't do a thing. Hell - get a hemostat from Harbor Freight to pinch the hose as recommended above.

If your car ran normally before using the Seafoam and after it does not. I recommend replacing the o2, cleaning/replacing the spark plugs/wires and resetting the ECU. If you've ran two full tanks of fuel through the vehicle and it still is misfiring, I would suspect it to be one of these elements.

A failing O2 sensor can cause extremely poor fuel mileage as well as the misfire you described. I like to change them in my personal vehicles every 20K.

Cleaning/Replacing your spark plugs. This is really a no brainer. Plugs are cheap enough to change out every time you change your oil and it also can be a contributing factor to poor performance if contamination occurs. Cleaning and re-gapping can suffice if you can't pick up a new set. Even if this isn't the cause of your problem this can only help your situation. So Win Win.

Good Plug Wires are equally important but I don't think these are you problem unless multiple elements are all failing congruently making one big problem. But again, I doubt this is your problem.

Resetting your ECU can clear out whatever current fuel trims that may be incorrect due to the use of the Seafoam. You can accomplish this by first, disconnecting your positive and negative terminals from your Battery. Secondly, removing the ECU from its mounting point under the dash. You then simply unplug the ECU from your wiring harness. Wait 30 seconds and then plug it back in and then remount it.

After all of this is done, fill the tank with the best grade of fuel you can find. Test drive the car and get back to us with your findings.

Best of Luck

NWDSM, is your name Chris? I bought my UICP from you. I'll try resetting it hardcore like you said. Also i stated above that i switched out my o2 for a known good one and no difference. :hmm:

This is going to sound kind of wacky. I had a similar issue at one point. I was at my mechanic's actually for something entirely different and I just brought it up to him how it's been stumbling and misfiring after I seafoamed it recently. His exact words to me were "Well, I've got lots of parking lot. Go stand on it and see what it does."
All it took was a WOT 1st and 2nd gear and the car was running just as it should. YMMV.
