I figured the honeycomb can take the spray, but i didn't think that is the actual sensor. The spray can says to spray the wires. I don't see wires. Are they against the vertical bar behind the honeycomb? Are there other areas inside there that I definately do or do not want to spray? Thanks.

tisk tisk great to see ppl are not reliable. do not spray break clean in ## maf. tak your mafs off the car go to your local parts store and you can buy actual intake and throttle body cleaner. it comes in an aerosol can spray all the inside of the maf itself. you will see soome dirty liquid come out the other end once its not dirty anymore just let it drive out for an 30 minutes to an hour and put it back on the car. i reccomend doing this in a well ventilated area. car should run noticeably better if it hasnt been cleaned in a long time. change your air filter at the same time would be a good idea aswell. also make sure the car has been sitting for a while and cooled down. just like if you were to poor hot water out of the kettle into a drink glass it will break, spray cold intake cleaner onto one of the fine wires intisde it while its hot can break them. and do not spray ## filter with it either.

good luck

They do sell an electrical parts cleaner at the parts stores, it should say on the back its safe for mass air. There will be like a resistor looking wire in there.

You can buy CRC maf cleaner at autozone for 5.99. It is in a silver can and you should fully remove your maf while cleaning it. Then use low air pressure to dry it. Install and you're good to go. I haven't had any problems with mine yet...:thumb:

Don't spray any type of liquid/air spray into your maf. do what i do, get a napkin, dampen it up a little, and wipe it down. You might need a few napkins. Reapeat the steps until you get all the oily substances out. That should be all.

Am I the only one that understood the 1st post. I have MAF cleaner and its made to spray into the maf. Soak the bi*** down, I've done it and do it a lot to keep it clean. It won't harm anything. Just make sure it's completely dry before you put it back in. Should only take 5min for it to dry up.

Just cause it says maf cleaner doesn't mean it won't harm it or may cause a possibility to. I've known of people who use for example fuel injector cleaner to clean the fuel injectors obviously and instead have clogged them up. I rather take precaution.

Sometimes I don't even expect to ever fix my car and I think I'm writing posts just for the entertainment value of the responses. This thread has a pretty regular cadence. Do it...don't do it...Do it...Don't do it...
I'm really just wondering where the "wires" are in there. It's an un-hacked 1G NT MAF. Best that I can see, the wires have got to be along side of a vertical plastic bar that runs through the center of the chamber behind the honeycomb. That's really what I'm asking.
I have a can of CRC MAF cleaner from Autozone for $5.99. And I'm itching to use it.

I'd not realized we were having a special Tool Day at DSMtuners.

Use MAF cleaner, if, somehow, someway, you managed to get your MAF dirty. Then, put an air cleaner back on it and don't worry about it.

DSMs use Karman vortex generators, not hot wires.
