I recently bought my 95 GSX with dsmlink v2 and I bought it during winter and once I got the car home, I immediately put it in storage. While in storage, I took the battery out, every other week or so I would put the battery back in the car and start it up and let run for awhile. I just got the car out of storage, put clean fuel in it, put injector cleaner in it, changed the oil and maintainance things. Now the car seems to run different than before put away. Doesnt seem to pull as hard and idles a lil funny. My question is ........with disconnecting the battery everyother week......did this loose the settings that were set before I stored it? Will I have to reset the ecu? Im new with dsmlink so any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

The settings should be saved in your laptop. If for some reason the ECU does reset, just take your laptop and load your settings from the last time you had a datalog.

You would have better luck getting any other questons about DSMlink answered in the actual DSMlink forums.

yeah, 2g's dont have the memory board that 1g's do so if you disconnect the battery the ecu will reset, like said above, go to the most recent datalog on the laptop(before the battery was disconnected) go to your settings and click "copy to ecu" then you should be all good bro

thanks for the help.....even with my 6 bolt swap and everything it is still possible to loose the settings?

Well, like I said before, I have a 6 bolt swap and I have an EPROM ECU (isn't that a 1g) for my DSMLink?

Having a 6 bolt has nothing to do with what ECU you have. If you have a 95-99 and have DSMLink, you have to have a 2g EPROM ECU.

It was stated previously, anytime power is lost to the ECU the settings are lost and goes back to the chip's defaults. Defaults vary on what the chip was actually burned with. 1g's have a daughter board that is required to be installed along with DSMLink, unlike the 2g's. The daughter board has non-volatile memory with keeps the settings when power is lost to the ECU. So with that being said, save your settings, that way they can be reloaded when power is lost to the ECU.
