So last night im starting my car to go home in my friends driveway and my alternator and coolant lights come on, i was hoping it was because it was really cold like 11*degrees last night. i checked my battery voltage on my safc and it was 11.5v and wasnt increasing at all at idle, then i go to pull out of the driveway and realize i have no power steering so i pop the hood and use my cell phone as a light and see one of my belts torn in half. so i drive the two blocks home and this morning take my brothers car to get some new belts, pull off the drivers side wheel and splash cover and find that my inner pulley seperated from the outer pulley... great. my question is how many people on here run the fluidamper and is it really worth upgrading for $350? i called gary from mitsubishi graveyard and he can get me a used stocker for $40 on monday. any opinions appreciated:talon:

I've boughten a used harmonic balancer from them and it works just fine. I just bought it this past summer when mine was ready to come apart and it is still holding up just fine. The fluiddamper is a GREAT piece, but I cannot justify buying one at this time. The key is do you want to spend the money now and get it and not have to worry about it ever OR you can periodically check your stocker like I do and save yourself some money. An easy way to check if the stocker is on its way out is to let the engine run and shine a flashlight on the pulley to see if it is wobbling back and forth. It's your choice and your money.

I'd say stick with the stock one. Unless you plan on a motor rebuild anytime soon I wouldn't worry about it. I have one but only because I found it for $100 new on craigslist plus I wanted to take off the underdrive pulley it came with when I bought it.

Ok thanks, ill go with the stocker and just check it periodically. Ill save that extra $300 for the fmic:rocks:

When mine went bad I couldnt justify a new one from the dealer for 150. So I bought a unortodox under drive set made a differnce in power you could feel but I was still running the balance shafts so I dont know how well they work with no balance shafts. When I get my new motor (with no balance shafts) runnig I will let you know, its going in on sunday.
