hey. i drive a 1998 eclipse GS, and for shits and giggles my friend is sellin me his wrecked as hell GSX at a dirt cheap price. the engine and transmission and transfer case and everything is still in good shape, just the body's messed up real bad. so i was wondering if i felt like spending the time if it was possible to take everything off of the GSX and everything off of the GS and put the AWD w/ the 4g64 motor and transmission into the GS. Thx for your assistance.

Anythings possible. Thats just going to be a huge chunk out of your wallet and time. But still, it's possible with a ton of modifications.

me and my friend converted is rs to awd with an evo motor and mr tranny and drive train

Isnt this topic like :beatentodeath: ten years ago?

I call BS... Just for fun oneday at the salvage yard we worked out I bet a guy $100.00 he couldnt cut the inner fenders etc out of a GS and GSX car and get them swapped to hold a 4G63. He worked on it for quite awhile and finally said #### it. The obvious would be making the car drivable once you hacked the engine bay all to hell... :hellyeah:

for any of you that have ever changed a motor or done a swap think about how hard it is to get factory parts to line back up and mounts to bolt up correctly sometimes. I cant imagine trying to get a 4G63 to fit after some heavy massaging on the mounts and inner fenders etc... :tease:

My two Cents...

It would probably cost less in the end to transport a 4G63 rolling chassis from overseas LOL and you can likely find them all over the place w out titles. Find a good body bad title and swap some stuff ;) STILL cheaper than it would be to spend the time/money making the 4g fit into that NT car...

taking a non-turbo fwd car and trying to make it turbo AND awd is just not practical at all. If you want a GSX, you should just get your friends car and fix it back up or better yet sell the GS and buy your own GSX.

I used to see kits on ebay to put an EVO IV and up motor in a 2gNT. The kit with the motor was like $15K. Unless you have a ton of money to blow just to have something unique it's just not worth it.
