Hey guys... where can i find a walthrough of how to remove a '99 eclipse dash panel?

it really helps having someone help you to put it back in - it can be a PITA for sure. and don't forget to unplug the two wire harness behind the radio.

Wow so I thought I would be able to do this no problem, but I got intimidated when I looked under and saw how huge the unit is! I didn't realize how much room it took up. At first I was going to attempt the heater core removal without removing the dash, then decided I would, and then realized that I don't want to deal with the wiring mess.

Sooo, I just removed my entire carpet and I'm going to just wash it and throw it back in. I know I won't have a functioning heater but I don't care at this point. I got through winter without it already. I'm just hoping that majority of the coolant has already leaked out so I won't have the carpet soaked in it again.

2GeNTSi: you do know that you can bypass that bad heater core closing the loop on the water pipe, bypassing the heater core by putting one of those heater hoses between the both ends of the water pipe. that will keep the antifreeze off of your floor until you can replace the heater core.

I have been running the core bypassed since September but it still has been leaking whatever coolant was left in it. I'm just hoping that majority of it is gone so that I don't have to tear out the carpet to clean it all up again.

We'll see though, maybe I might change my mind. I'll have to drill out my glovebox lock cylinder because my key for some reason doesn't work anymore. Once I tear that out I'll get a look at the unit again and decide if I'll go at it or not.

I was looking at the Haynes manual though, and it said to remove the instrument panel reinforcement, it looks like you have to remove the dash in order to get to that. Not sure but whatever, I'll take a look at it tomorrow.
