[RESOLVED] button under dash???

me and my friends dad were looking under his eclipse dash and we noticed a button that was connected to the wiring harness for the fuse box, and neither one of us know what it is. help us out.
its 97 GS auto.

possibly aftermarket alarm button. Does it look afermarket installed?

I have a button under my dash that was from an after market alarm system and in order to start my car I have to push in the clutch, push in the button and then turn over the car so it could be something like that.

maybe its a vallet button, or maybe its like he said one of those crazy alarm sytems thats makes your car a pain to start but no harder to steal. but wouldn't it be pretty cool to pretend it was a nos button or a turbo boost button like kit in knight rider.

instead of tracing the wires back to the source maybe we can pretend what it is. maybe it shorts out the whole fuse box so you can blow all your fuses when you park in the ghetto so your car won't get stolen.

i could sit here all day thinking up ideas

for future reference the only way to make a car a pain to steal is to take some major component out of it. when i left one of my cars for sale in a parking lot in a bad area i took my plug wires home with me.

well we pushed it and the friggin car exploded!!! ha-ha guys actually we ran it back to the source and it actully is for an alarm, i had a pic, but it wouldnt load, thanks guys!

help i pushed the button and now the car won't start how do i fix it? this really sucks so much for having the car fixed i think

You need to find out what brand your alarm system is, and contact the manufacturer for a user's manual.

Most alarms you will need to put your KEY in the ignition and turn it to the ON position...then HOLD THE button for 5 seconds. This usually disables the starter kill and siren. Watch the LED light...it will light up solid when you are in Valet Mode.

I got it figured out it was a valet button and it had to be held til the light turned off and then start it. well that prolem is fixed many more to solve keeps eyes open for the next posts to help me. Thanks All.
