There, Virginia
I started to replace the heater core in my 96 talon this afternoon..
I've removed the center console,(radio etc), support bars behind the console and have removed the ducts coming from the heater box. Heres where I'm stumped....

On the drivers side(where the coolant was leaking) the heater box which seems like it can split into two seems to be connected somewhere above it...under the dash, while the passenger side seems a little easier to remove, it has the AC unit in the way and I believe there are lines that will be in the way aswell.....I can see the core from the passenger side though....

To get to the core does the entire dash need to come off of the car, or is it possible to remove the AC unit...maybe slide it over far enough to get to the core......

I am going to try to maybe get a picture if it will help, any tips about which direction to get at the core would be great.

Keep working at it, that AC unit comes out. If I remember correctly, the glove box definitely needs to come out, and there are a few screws/bolts that are a pain to get to in order to remove the A/C unit, but after that, the heater core is right behind there.

I've only had to help with this once and it was removing the core from a junk yard donor, but I believe the entire dash was still intact.

So everything on the driver side can be left alone.
Yeah the glove box was out as well only way to see the AC unit....
Even took the seats out...kinda comfy laying down, LOL.

Thanks will try that out tomorrow
It still seems that the AC unit goes up, maybe I'm just not feeling for screws and clips fully.

Thanks again:cool:

Any links to dash removal would be spiffy, won't have time to work on it until this evening.
....is there anything else underneath that will need to be removed after the dash is out of the car?

Finally, the passenger side the best to tackle this from? I entire Air Unit is in the way, I've got no clue how to move it over to the side.

I should just do a brand new interior of my car:cool:
If anyone knows of anything else that should be replaced while i'm inside, i'd love to know

so i'm going to attempt to replace my heater core during my spring break, but first i need to either locate a donor car or buy a heater core. if i look for a donor car, there is no difference between the n/t and turbo models i'm assuming right?

From what I know, you are correct. I have never seen a 2g turbo car in the junk yards around here and a friend of mine recently pulled a heater core to replace the one in his talon. The hook-ups should be the same.
