recently the bearing in in the idler pulley in my 420a went out. Tonight i went and got a new pulley (theyre made to be completely replaced whenever the bearing goes out) and it seemed like it wasnt right. whenever i got home and got the pulley out of my car it turned out that the replacement one is bigger, and autozone closed by the time i got back there. i was wondering if anyones replaced it on their car and had the same problem. i just dont know if the bigger pulley is gonna be a problem or not, and it doesnt seem like it would, but engines usually have parts that are designed to be that specific size. i just want to know if i can just replace it tonight instead of waiting til tomorrow. thanks a lot

What is the size difference? If its only a little bit bigger, it'll just take up a bit of slack in your timing belt. Put it on and see if you still have slack in your belt...if you do, then it should work just fine.

its about a 1/2 inch bigger in diameter. im thinking it really just doesnt matter. i really cant think of any reason why it would...

I really can't either..as long as it bolts up the same, a 1/2 less tension shouldn't matter that much. Bolt it up and give it a try. If it works, keep it...if it doesn't, get a new one.

thanks a lot. im gonna feel so much better when i can drive my car around going over 2500 rpm without having a really loud squealing sound
