Leakin like a siv. How involved is the task at hand ? Any tricks for doing it easily (better than the chiltons / haynes manuals) Thanks

It's not too difficult to do. Keep all your nuts and bolts seperate, take your time and do it right. Prep the surfaces good, make sure the pump and mating surface is very clean, and use some RTV, if you want.

Take your time and get all the timing marks right, especially the oil pump sprocket, it's kind of tricky. Refer to your manual for the details on that.

the hardest part is getting the stupid waterpump pulleys back on! God I hate that part.

How hard can getting that pulley on be? I just hold the wrench steady and use it to spin the wheel like a bicycle crank. Work smarter, not harder.

The hardest part is getting the water pump out. Once it's loose, the clearance between the engine and engine bay is just a little smaller than the pump. I worked on it for a long while before I decided to just push the engine over to the pass side a little with a crowbar. Once I did that, it came right out.

That might be a problem specific to my car, maybe my motor mounts have shifted a little, since I haven't seen anyone else complaining about it, but that was definately the hardest part on my car. Not hard to do, I just don't have much experience, and it took a little cursing before I remembered that I could move the engine a bit if I had to.

Other than that, follow the Vfaq instructions for changing the timing belt, and change the water pump in the middle. And make sure you have the right torque wrench before you start.
