ok im wondering if i should or have to replace my stock fuel filter i havent had any
problems with any fuel issues but i just replace my fuel pump with a 255 wallbro and
i also got a Aeromotive A1000 Fuel Pressure Regulator. and a AEM High Volume Fuel Rail..
so i wanted to know if i have to upgrade the fuel filter?? cus if i do it would be easy cus my
engine is out right now just got it rebuilt with forged crank, pistons and rods, balance shaft kit eliminator, timing belt, valves ....

Just did mine today. I followed these trustworthy directions. Look through this thread, pick a trustworthy vendor, and buy yourself an OEM replacement fuel filter. Your car is about 8 years old and the fuel filter has probably never been changed - it's about dang time.

Don't forget to check for leaks when you get the engine installed and fired up. I also put on Anti-Sieze on the threads just in case. You also need two new crush washers, which the author mentions. You can pick those up at your local NAPA store. When removing the 14mm nut (the bottom one that is a bit troubling for those of us who are working with the engine in the engine bay) I found that using a flare nut wrench works much better than a regular wrench. But you shouldn't have too many issues since the engine is on a engine stand in your case.

I would seens they are chepe i found one at walmart for about 18 dollars and they are easy to install when engine is out,

I bought an oem, its better to change it now than later especially without knowing how long it has been since your car last had it changed. Just be careful though, it is easy to break the fitting off at the top and bottom.

For this particular filter, go with OEM.

I have discussed my thoughts on making the decision to choose certain OEM filters here. Yes, that thread is about the oil filter, but I believe it still highly pertains to this install as well. (Take heed what Damien says in post #5. Certain OEM parts have come a long way in the past few decades. Certain filters are of much higher quality than filters back 50 years ago.)

Obviously, my views change when we're talking about OEM air filters. Just click here for a quick link. Currently, you can purchase a brand new OEM filter for about $20, about the same price (and even cheaper) as those sh*ty Autozone or Wal-Mart brands.

Don't worry too much about upgrading a fuel filter. It's a fuel filter, not a plastic CBV. You'll be just fine with this choice.

Not to steal this thread but I tried to take off my fuel filter today but the banjo bolt is stuck on there. I think it might have seized but I'm not sure. Anything I could do?

PB blaster every day for a week? Otherwise just remove the line connected to the banjo and replace the filter and install this kit from Import Evo for $65 + shipping.

Go down to NAPA (or whatever local automotive parts store is open) and pick up a can of PB Blaster. Follow the directions and try again.

I almost suggested using a propane torch on the banjo bolt threads, but I caught myself in time. You definately should not do this. You're working with fuel, and you need to be very careful. Don't let any flames get near this area.

Try to get a friend with bigger arms to help you out. You may just be too much of a weakling. :p
