repaint some int. pieces, what color?? (pics inside)

I'm redoing my center vent guage pod, and making new kick panels for another set of 6.5" Alpine spkrs for mids. Not sure what color to paint though? I'd probably also repaint the door handle areas, and the radio trim. pretty much all the gloss black stuff now, will be the new color.

here's what's getting painted:
-new kick pods
-new center vent piece
-radio trim piece
-door handle pieces
-???

here are my color ideas so far: (in order of my favs)

-Dark silver metallic (but not quite gunmetal)

-OEM Grey (stock grey interior color)

-Gloss black (same as now)

-Flat / Semigloss black


i guess not all pieces need to be the same, if someone can think of a good theme to accent one or another piece, that'd be cool too.

thinking of covering the carpeted sides with black vinyl

so that's it. anyone have ideas for a new color scheme for the interior? the seats are now black/red racing seats. so the whole color theme of the car is pretty much black & red, with a little silver (the rims mainly) any/all idea are welcomed. constructive criticism only though please. if you want to see more pics, click on -my webpage-

i like how it is now. But you should paint the grey color to black. Black and Red should look really good. That's the theme i might go with my car when i get the money that is.

i agree, i'd like to stick with the black/red combo, but the gloss black seems too shiny inside there. maybe i should dull it up a little. more of a satin finish, like the rest of the stock black dash. not soo darn glossy. what do you guys think? they make an additive for clearcoats that 'flattens' it out. the more you use, the flatter it gets. i was thinking just use a little to dull it, but definetely NOT all the way to flat black

Kurt, when i was looking at your car, the gloss black looks absolutly awesome. If you wanted to change the color, just dull the black a very little bit if you need to. One piece of constructive critism, maybe before you work on the interior, you should try and clean up the outside, such as the paint chip on the bumper, and the side skirt fitment. I'm the only one on here that has seen your car really up close(i believe).

actually, for a fiberglass kit, the fitment is pretty good. anyone on here who has actually worked with a fiberglass body kit knows that it is very tedious work to get it to fit up 100%properly. unless your molding the kit in, there is *almost* always a few tiny areas that are not going to be perfect. also, the kit has been on for 4 years, fiberglass and metal bend/contract at different rates; throughout the years, that may have become a bit noticable.

as for the paint chip on the front bumper?? it's a daily driver (other than winter) it's gonna get chipped the day after i fix that one. when you have a daily driven show car (that gets beat to piss every time i hop in the drivers seat...) it's gonna have a few flaws. it's NOT a trailer queen. I usually do touch ups each spring, well for the past 4 yrs i have anyways. will probably do a few touch-ups this spring too when i pull it out of the showroom. but thanks for pointing that out

and YES, i'm leaning towards more of a satin black finish vs. the gloss black. if i don't like it, i can always repaint it.

well, your right, i was more leaning toward the top of your side skirts, it looked like it was coming apart slightly. Are you going to re-due your trunk at all, i think showing off your amps more might give it a better look. I think you really need to keep it to a black/red scheme, since your body is red, you have no choice really. Maybe you can do something with your center console, such as some transperant stuff(neons behind), or some diamond plate strips with a design in between them, just giving you ideas(sorry if its off topic). I love high gloss black, so any opinions from my part, will be for high gloss.

I say go for a semi-gloss black or the satin like you said. I'd also like to see the side molding shaved and filled for a smooth look on the door and side of the car that flows smoothly into the sideskirts.

so I was watching TV last night, and something about suede was mentioned. I thought HHMMmmmm, suede might look nice. So what does everyone think about redoing the back seats and center console in black/red suede? nice & smooth to the touch, and a bit of class as well. i think it would look pretty good. assuming I can find a bright enough fabric. (on a side note, what i did find this morning starts around $50-$60/yard! yikes!)

as for the kit pulling apart, it's barely noticeable, unless your nose is that close to my car (in which case i should kick you while your down there) and unfortunately, it's probably due to 4 years of driving.

SpyderFX, as for molding it in... yeah, I've been dicking around with that idea for a while now. Molding in the kit would be a decent project for myself, but the side trim piece in the middle of the door... not sure i'm up for that. But it DOES look sweet when it's done correct! Just need time & money to repaint the whole thing then too. Maybe next winter. I just booked a Cruise in the Bahamas for the GF & myself for over spring break. So there goes the extra ca$h for car projects I guess. (as for the repaint, Saleen Lizstick Red will probably be the color of choice)
