Is there a good and CHEAP safe way to remove paint from a carbon fiber hood without damaging the cf? I can respray a clear coat but.....I need to get down to that

:hmm: I was told by my body shop that you can't, and your only option for cracked/faded/dull CF was to paint over it. He said that the clear won't blend with the uv coating on cf.

i would just sand until u got thru the the paint being careful not to go to far into the clear coat and gettting into the carbon.

I hope it is possible... I guess I'm going to try sanding it.. I mean.. whats the worst that could happen? I need to paint it again? Haha... I'll get supplies tomorrow.

just start with 500 or 600 grit and work your way up to 1000 or 2000 grit and take ## time

What is wrong with it? Is it yellow? If so then its the type of resin that the manufacturer used and you can't fix that. If its cracked theres really no fix for that either. Most companies use a thin coat of resin for the top coat and then a clear. If its just scatched I would take it to a body shop, once you sand into the CF your FUBAR.
