Remote starter...

Is it possible to install a remote car starter on a 92 GS with a manual trans? One would be lead to believe the answer is no, since the clutch has to be depressed when the car is started... Reason for asking is that it gets mighty cold (for me at least, I hate cold weather) in the winter, and it would be nice to have this luxury... Only way I can see this being done is by bypassing the clutch somehow?

You can disable the switch that tells your car the clutch is depressed. I start my manual without depressing the clutch. Just make sure you don't leave it in gear.

The biggest problem is that you'll have to do the install yourself probably because most places that would install it can't because their insurance doesn't cover that. Something about it being possible to run over a toddler/cat/bicycle/lawer without actually being in your car or something.

It dawned on me today that I could interrupt the clutch switch and possibly do it, but I wasnt certain...been about 4 years now since I have done anything with electrical circuits...

As for installing it, thats gonna be the trick part...do you guys know of anyone here that has done this before? Would be nice to find someone with some knowledge of this before I attempt it...unless I can find a place to install it for me...

Just thought I would leave an update...Clutch switch is now unplugged, was surprisingly easier than I expected...It took me about 30 seconds to find it and 5 minutes of f'n around with the plug/latch, but I found it all the way up on the left side. about 3 inches up and behind the fuse box...will try and get pics for any other new person who comes looking for this same mod...

Do remember that if someone other than you hits the button you could see your car moving under its own power. Murphy's law will dictate that one.

i have to disconnect my battery every time i get out of the car, i think my was hooked up wrong, i hate it.

Ah yes, Murphy's law... No matter though, I intend on being the only one with a remote... No one touches my DSM but me, best car (and last car for about 5 years i hope) i have ever had....My keys never leave my pocket... Not to mention that I leave the car in neutral with the E brake on when I park...
