Relocating Ignition?

Hey I was wondering if anyone has ever tried relocating their ignition? I have a gutted 2G and a donor car to go with it. I was going to fab up a bunch of fiberglass pieces for the interior along the way and was staring at my cigarette lighter and thinking about blocking it off. Then I thought it would be cooler to just replace it with the ignition and just cover the hole in the column's plastic. I know this will mean my steering wheel won't lock. But how bas ass would this be! If anyone has any insight please let me know!

I'm not sure how that would work because there is an ignition switch. Perhaps you could lean towards putting a push start button where the cigg lighter goes.
