Ok, so first off I realize you're going to say "use the search function". I did, and I know that somewhere on this site there are "upgrade path" threads, I just couldn't find them after looking around a bit, SO.

I'm gonna pick up an engine out of a 99 GST with 92k miles on it, it had some front end damage but it doesn't look like the damage even made it past the hood/radiator and the engine still runs.

I figure while I've got it out I might as well take the opportunity to do some routine maintainance stuff (Timing belt) but want to add a little power to it as well. I'm gonna be putting it into my 99 GST since my motor gave out on me a month after I bought the car. (Previous owner sucked) :notgood:

So, mods I know I have already = Evo III 16g turbo, FMIC, SAFC, Walboro 255 fuel pump, and bigger injectors, I just don't know HOW big.

What else should I be looking for, or what should I go for with a budget to prep this engine as much as I can, I'm looking at about a $2000 budget. I should also mention that I'm just looking for the car to be like a weekend driver, I have a DD, and I'm lookin to push between 350-400 HP (Safely, and obviously not right away if I can't afford all the necessary upgrades now)

My thoughts:

*Timing belt
*New head studs
*(This would be where I need your help, what else would YOU do at this point?)

Like I said, sorry, I'm sure this is the wrong place to post this thread, but I couldn't find the upgrade path threads and I honestly looked for them, so please don't flame -_-

Thank you for your help!

Scroll all the way to the bottom of this page, you will see 3 lists. Far left list, third from the bottom is the upgrade paths link.

You would also want
1. a new head gasket
2. I would recommend a BSE kit
3. all belts
4. water pump
5. replace all gaskets

I have my engine out right now, and I am doing a full rebuild. Many would recommend a full rebuild any time you have the engine out of the car. Depending on mileage, you may want to do this too. (if it is nearing 100k)

Hope this helps!

If you have it engine out then I would do the follow: new timing belt, oil pump, water pump, head gasket, BSEK, clutch/flywheel, and head studs. I would also check crank end play and rod bearing clearances. Also, look of any unusually wear or separation of the harmonic damper/balancer. It wouldn't hurt either while the head is off for new valve stem seals and 3g lifters.
