Red light in the speaker suppose to stay on all the time?

i noticed a red light on the left side dash speaker im guessin is the alarm light. it stays on all the time is that normal?

Im pretty sure hes talking about on top of the dash where the tweater is. And that should be the light for the Anti-theft and on most vehicles is only lit when the actual alarm is set.

Yes we know that it's an aftermarket LED and not stock. Find out if you have a add-on alarm and get the manual for it. The LED could also be just for show to make a thief think you have an alarm.

On my alarm a steady light means that the alarm is in valet mode. Have you tried pressing the hidden valet switch down for 3 to 5 seconds with the ignition switch on?

did the 1gs come with a alarm system? well the light is lit up all the time but the car starts but im still thinkin it should be off and maybe draining my battery overnight because on cold starts sometimes its hard to start the car up.

LEDs use very little amperage to run. There is no way 1 LED can be draining your battery. I once ran a LED on a 5v watch battery and it remained lit for almost 6 weeks.

There is the option for factory theft protection for a 1G but they don't have a LED by the speaker. Their indicator is in the gauge cluster.
