Alright, I have some clutch problems to begin with on my 98 GST. It is an ACT 2100 with a street/strip disc. It slips at about 3000 rpm in 3rd, 4th and 5th under heavy throttle. I have adjusted it, bled it. I know its the clutch. Well my question is, there is a place about 20 miles from me that rebuilds clutches.

I had never heard of having a clutch rebuilt so I asked a couple of friends about it. One of my friends says he knows a guy that works at a Kia dealership that had taken a customer clutch there and got it rebuilt. Another friend just took his clutch out of his Civic there, what he does is rivets a new clutch lining on the disc, resurfaces the pressure plate and supposedly shims it to the stock height. My friend with the Civic even has a 6-puck disk and had it rebuilt with ceramic material.

I wanted to know if anyone on here had ever had, or heard of a clutch being rebuilt and what should I be able to expect out of one? Same clamping force? Same mileage?
Thanks a lot for any info anyone might have.

If your car is bone stock DD then maybe i would consider doing this. But if you push your car like many of us, then i would suggest just getting a new clutch and saving yourself all the headaches.
