My head has about 142K miles on it now. It ticks like nobody's business and a valve seal has gone bad because it will burn oil upon start-up and after idling for extended periods. I'm happy with the cars performance now so I'm not looking to building any wild dsms in the near future. However, I want the car to run perfectly and consistently. So the question is....Should I have the head rebuilt (and what does that really entail), or should I go buy a new assembled head, or should just buy someone's used low mileage head?

Swap to a rebuild 1g head, It flows more, I know you would prbably end up spending at least 600$ for a rebuild 1g head, or you could buy a used 1g head thats been recently rebuild from someone in the classified section for a little less. You'd probably need to end up buying an evo 3 head gasket and the arp headstuds, but if you're satisfied with your cars performance, wait until you get a 1g rebuild head in.

is burning oil after idleing for long periods of time a just a bad seal or would that be a valve itself or guide as well? My old head was doing it too so I just put a different one on ... just wondering.
