every since I put an Apexi N1 exhasut on my car, I have exhaust deposits that build up on my bumper and it looks very ugly. I wash the bumper and the deposits come back within a half hour of driving. My car is white is it looks even worse. Does anyone have any suggestions on how do stop/prevent this

thank you

Well, short of adding a few inches of length to the exhaust to push it out a bit further, no. But you can get one of those plates for the bumper that goes around the area right above the muffler and protects the bumper from what you're talking about.

If those options don't work for you I'd just make sure to keep a really good coat of wax on the bumper so the soot comes off easily. I've found the right wax will also keep it from collecting dirt.

Are you running rich? When my car was running rich it left black crap on the bumper. (unspend gas)

what wax do you use? and yes I am running rich but I dont have the money to buy an engine mangement system to lean out my mixure
and what should i look for om the front o2?

You dont need engine management. While you do run rich from the factory, you should not have black soot on your bumper after a half an hour. Do a BLT to fix your leaks that are causing the black soot to appear.
As for the front 02 sensor, check to make sure that it is still working. Do you have a logger?

I would suggest putting a cat back on your car if you do not want to tune your car so your not running so rich.

I would suggest not to do this, and instead fix the leaks that are making the car run rich. If anything, putting a cat on a car running rich will just clog the cat and make the car run even richer.

A friend of mine had the same problem with his Starion when he started running one of those HKS fake cats. With his car the problem was that it shot flames out of the tailpipe and stained the bumper.

I would guess that running a log on your car would really tell you if it's running super rich or if the staining is just a result of not running a cat.

OK first of all I have a Apexi downpipe with NO cat and I dont have plans to put one in until Im called in for emisions testing. I dont have a logger to check but im 99% sure it is the O2. Im looking into replaceing the sensor, housing and getting a header sytle exhaust manifold for my car. The manifold is gonna be around $300 but how much is the sensor and housing gonna run me (rough estimate) and how big of a headache are they to put in?

thank you
