Just bought another dsm, 96 Auto.

Sometimes, not all the time, when I drive the car is extremely slow off the line. Like I have the pedal to the floor and I go no where. Its almost like the tranny is stuck in 3rd or 2ng gear, ands its lugging to get up to speed.

Once I hit boost it takes off, but getting there takes forever.

Wierd thing is today while driving it was acting up, and while going about 15mph It wouldnt go faster, so I floored it and the car built 10psi of boost and the car didnt go anywhere. It was like I was stalling building boost.

Any one have any ideas what this could be? No check engine lights, no boost leaks.

I just hope it doesnt need a new tranny. Im hoping maybe some soliniods or valve body issue? Torque converter?

Any one else have this issue?

My 97 shifts into 2nd almost immediately if left in drive. I now shift it manually from a stop. I was also disappointed with how doggy it was until I noticed it was doing this.

I now have a modified tcu, I had to drive the car with a stock tcu while getting new chips and I"ll never do that again. You really notice how lazy and weak the shifts are with a stock tcu.

You transmission could be in limp mode where it is starting in a higher gear, or you could just not be making much power. I would suspect the first.
