Really dumb question, but I'm asking anyways!

So I have a 93' 1.8 SOHC 5-speed. It doesn't feel to terribly slow, maybe even a little quick at the right times. Anyways, I'm looking to buy a 2G GS-T. To anybody who might know, how much faster does the Turbo feel from my 1.8? Also, I've searched everywhere and couldn't find the 0-60 times of my 93' 1.8...does anybody know by chance what it is? Thanks!

Alright guys that's what I was wanting to hear! but one more thing:

I test drove a 94' Camaro Z28 and it was damn fast. In comparison between that and a 2G Turbo how do they feel?

Okay- here's a good comparison...

Driving a 1.8 is like dancing with a fat lady- she might know the moves, but she's still....fat.

Driving a 2.0 is like doing the tango with a lovely limber latina... you'll never want to touch the fat chick again.

Turbo cars rarely 'feel' as fast as a v8. There is something about the instant torque you get from the first 1" of throttle movement that makes a v8 car feel like it will walk all over a turbo 4. Those cars just get up and go.

Once your past the inital throttle response, though, the two cars will be pretty comparable. Feeling the turbo come on is a rush, but it isn't quite the same as tapping the throttle and getting thrown back in the seat the way a z28 will do.

I haven't had the pleasure of riding in one of the highly modified big turbo cars yet, but I'm sure they're a lot of fun too.

I've already had a v8 for a while though, and I am really enjoying the feel of all-wheel drive. There is something about coming out of a corner will your foot in the throttle and all kinds of traction that almost makes up for the turbo lag.

Just my impression, I'm sure others will disagree.

aye, i had the same problem... almost got an LT1 but the AWD is was turned me to DSM. I really enjoy my DSM. Never owned an LT1 so I cant compare them.

I just didn't want to spend alot of money on a car and still have people see it as another "4 banger".

Does anybody know the 0-60 times of the 1.8 and the 2.0 Turbo for comparison? I guess that's the only way to look at the feel of a performance without riding in one.

How does the speed of a GST differ from a GSX? I heard the AWD was a power drainer...

AWD does have more drivetrain loss but I consider its traction ability to outweigh that small percentage. AWD is also geared shorter though.

I couldnt find the 0-60 times of the 1.8 but i did find the 420a (1995 rs) 0-60 time at 9.0 second to the GST of 6.4

They didn't make 1.8's in the 2G's....I'm gonna guess my 0-60 time being around 10 sec.....with the 5-speed. The Z28 0-60 is 5.5....not much of a noticable difference to 6.4 seconds huh?

my AWD is even with his when i took him for a ride the other day. He had never been in a modified turbo car before and when we hit 20 pounds in 2nd gear he started laughing saying that was the funniest feeling ever. Becuease he is used to instant power. Then i was makin a right and floored it in first around the turn. He couldn't believe i didn't go sideways or something. He said the car felt faster than his. I just laughed at him.

if your going to modify the Z-28. Think of this with 5 modification in a awd or Fwd you'll poo poo all over the LT1.

if you are going to buy a turbo DSM get AWD. period. You can find many many FWD vs AWD threads. Thats the whole reason I got a DSM was for the AWD.

What does 20 pounds in 2nd gear mean? All this talk reeeeally makes me want a GSX. To bad they're kind of in short supply. :thumbdown

i was interested in the z-28's and dsm's when i was shopping, but when me and my brother test drove a 95 tsi awd and smoked the shit outa a mustang it was alot funner than it woulda been in a z because the guy woulda seen it comming unlike the talon.

now that i have more mods and can smoke base model vette's with ease, the look on their faces make it so so so worthwile :laugh:

I was never into the muscle cars although they're pretty fast. It's like brain vs muscle, Nothing makes me smile more than to pull up next to a 5.0 at a red light, especially if his girlfriend is next to him.
