Re-wired 255 Walbro / Is It Working??

Alright, so I just finished re-wiring my new Walbro 255 with the re-wire kit. I cant fire up my car to see if its working yet because I have my valve cover off to get painted.

DUMB QUESTION, shouldn't I be able to hear the fuel pump fire up when I turn the key to the on position? I always thought thats the way it worked but maybe I'm wrong. I can hear something comming from the engine bay which kind of drowns out the sound but I know Walbro's are supposed to be pretty loud. I suppose I could wait until I get my valve cover back and try starting the car and if it doesn't start I'll know why... But I would really like to accomplish something in the meantime. Thanks.

yes, when you turn your car on it will make a "whan" sound for about .25 of a sec. It should also sound alot louder and sharper. Fuel pressure guage would be handy in this instance, but be sure to make sure your primed before starting when you get your valve cover back. I'de like to see pics, i painted my friends (focker420) and he grinded the DOHC 2.0 16V of and polished it.

I don't know about a 2g, but on a 1g the pump won't come on until you try to start the car. You could try manually powering the fuel pump on (using a datalogger, fuel pump test connector, or shorting the signal and power pin on the rewired relay together). It should definitely be a noticeable sound. I can hear mine with my car running clearly and I don't have a muffler.

No, it will not come on, 1G or 2G, it's activated by CAS signal. Like said above, you can turn on the pump using the check connector on the firewall. On a side note, you will need an AFPR for the 255, re-wired or not.

And to Focker420 I'll try and post or pm some pics when I get it back. That cover looks good with everything ground off. I took a Dremel to mine which took FOREVER ha, but it should be worth it in the long run. I left my letters on though but polished them up real nice.

Fuel pressure guage would be handy in this instance, but be sure to make sure your primed before starting when you get your valve cover back.

P.S. How do I make sure everything is primed?
