How can I re-wire the factory radiator fan to become a puller fan?
Is there a VFAQ on this?

im fairly certain stock fans are puller fans (atleast on 2g's)

it would make no sense to have a pusher fan on the engine bay side of a radiator, as at low speeds/cruise if it were to come on it would be "pushing" against incoming air, making it quite inefficiant :)

Well, I am referring to the radiator fan mounted in-front of the radiator and not behind the radiator as you said.

The fan is next to the bumper.

I havent seen any stock fan located in front of the radiator on any 1g dsm. It must be aftermarket but even so, why would you want it to pull instead of push? It will not pull and probably will burn up the motor if you try to reverse it due to the fact that incoming air will try to spin it in the opposite direction.

i agree. If the fan is infront of the radiator (bumper side) you want it to be a pusher fan. If its on the engine bay side you want it to be a puller fan.

to answer your question tho, to reverse the fan all you need to do is take the power and ground wire from the FAN and reverse the positive and negative power feed to it. so if red is power and black is ground ON THE FAN, reverse it, so black would be power, and red would be ground and it will reverse the direction of the fan. If it is a directional specific fan (designed to be a puller) this WILL work but the fan will not move much air.

thanks guys.

Rowlex, great info!
Actually I have both front and rear radiator fans. Thinking of getting rid of the rear one to make room for my external wastegate and turn the front one to be the puller. But since what you guys don't recommend to do it, well, I guess I will just stick to stock then.

Cheers.

after you reverse the polarity you may want to switch the blade too. Or if you really want to be cool buy my Flex-a-lite puller fans that are in really good condition. :D

Well, I run a MB(yes, benz) pusher fan in front of the radiator and nothing in the engine bay and my car never gets over 196*. It seems to work great for my application. I dont have ac but I do have a fmic and it works better than the 2 stock fans did under the hood. Here is a pic of my underhood clearance befor with some modded fans and after with the benz fan.

how much air does the stock fans flow? I know my FAL flow 1200cfm each and my new ones flow 1140cfm each.

OMG!
92awddsm, your setup is AWESOME! *drooling*

Is your current fan setup a puller or pusher now?
