I've got to agree, I now have both gas and dirt in my veins now...

It is an incredible amount of fun. Our courses are usually tighter and wetter (like our women ) out here in Oregon, but sometimes I actually would like them to be more open, as the higher speed drifts are a blast. I have a feeling that it might have something to do with the fact that they are usually designed by a GTI driver, they love killing other larger cars with those hairpins!

That course in the video looked about as dry as one we had in August last year without a water truck (it didn't show up). The dirt actually turned blue in the sweepers and you could hear tires squeal on it like a clay road course! I eventually will finish building my camera mount, and may post some links to video here next season.

It can get dangerous when dry AND bumpy, especially if it starts out soft and gets rutted then the ruts harden. You've just got to be careful and smooth things out. Come down over a bump with some steering angle into a rut with the brakes on, and you could dig in and roll. At the very least, you will pull a tire off the bead. Don't ask me why I know

When it is wet and sloppy, have all the fun you want, but if you are competitive, just realize that too many of those 6000RPM 2nd gear sideways sweepers can equal overall slower times. I go mostly for the fun and driving practice, you don't win anything anyways besides a plastic medal to show your friends. I put some info in another post

Just an FYI, fill your tank with gas, you will only be actually travelling half what your odo says at best, I reset the computer on the A6 before one event and got a whopping 9mpg not including wheelspin! And it is stock! I actually got 12mpg at my first HPDE.
