ok so here is the situation...

i wanna put out around 500whp on this 7 bolt block OMG

im almost done building my 7 bolt block..here is what i have done so far

polished & miked crank (standard)
reconditioned & shot peened 93 turbo rods (standard)
cross-hatched line honed cylinders (standard bore)

top line standard main bearings
clevite standard rod bearings
arp main studs
arp rod bolts

i got the crank and its bearings torqued down to ARP specs (60ft lbs)

about to put the pistons and rods in but im not to sure as of now because i found a good deal on 2g 4g63 JE pistons and 2g 4g63 Eagle rods

the 2g 4g63 JE pistons and 2g 4g63 Eagle rods where used for 15k miles..

they are standard cylinder bore and standard on the main & rod bearings

i want to know if i can....

put those pistons & rods into my 1993 7bolt block.
.
will my rod bearings fit on the 2g rods ??

also will my piston rings fit on the 2g pistons??

The 2G Eagle rods and JE pistons will work in the 1G 7-bolt block

Eagle provides rods for DSM's with the following breakdown
6-bolt, 7-bolt, & 420A

The bore size on the 4G63 1G 6-bolt & 7-bolt, and the 2G 7-bolt is the same, and both 1G
& 2G motors use the same stroke length. The 6-bolt motors use a 21mm diameter wrist pin, and the 7-bolt motors use a 22mm diameter pin.

Checking JE's web site they list
P/N# 208478 as a 1992 and earlier 21mm diameter pin piston set. also fit EVO 1-3
P/N# 208477 as a 1993 and later 22m diameter pin piston set. also fits EVO 4-8

You can use the 1G 7-bolt rods bearings in the 2G motor. However make certain that you have the correct size bearings I.E. std, .010, .020 etc.

Piston rings: your stock rings may not work with the JE pistons, many aftermarket pistons use different ring widths, and they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. I would
suggest buying a new set from JE, for the pistons you have.

Before buying the pistons and rods I would measure with a micrometer
(if you don't know how to use one then take someone along who does) the piston diameters, and check their condition very closely, additionally measure with a bore gage the diameter of the cylinders (again have it done if necessary) and subtract the piston diameter from the bore diameter to see what the piston to wall clearance would be. Make sure this meets the correct specifications.

I would have some concerns about using a standard bore block with X number of miles on it, then re-honed it, and a fairly used set of pistons. You are likely to find that the piston to Wall clearance will be too great.

Since you say you are looking for 500whp you might consider the following

horsepower/ET = time x patients x $$$

yea but if my pistons i have now are standard bore and my block is standard bore then the standard bore JE pistons should fit my car..its all the same..

my 1g block is standard bore

my friends 2g block is standard bore

even though i had it honed out its still standard bore...the honing just smooths up the surface..my block has had honing once that i know of..maybe 2 times

right ?

"yea but if my pistons i have now are standard bore and my block is standard bore then the standard bore JE pistons should fit my car..its all the same.."

Fit yes, all the same no.
Since piston to wall clearance is set to thousandths of an inch, no it is definitely not all the same.

"my 1g block is standard bore"

OK 3.346 bore dia. 3.3465, or 3.347, or 3.3475, or 3.348, etc etc How does your block check out for taper or out of roundness?

"my friends 2g block is standard bore"

See above

"even though i had it honed out its still standard bore...the honing just smooths up the surface..my block has had honing once that i know of..maybe 2 times"

honing is not a surface treatment, honing removes material. It is a machining procedure and will remove from .0001 to several thousandths of an inch, even more if the correct equipment is used.

"right ?"

you could not be more wrong

You have two choices
1: have a qualified person check out the necessary components, and verify their condition, and see if they meet the specifications. OR

2: play ostrich and bury your head in the sand, and hope what gets thrown together works.

What he is telling you in a nut shell that if you put those pistons in your car with our measuring anything chances are your going to have serious blow by or really low compression. If your lucky you may just have a lot of piston slap and the engine will sounds like it's knocking at idle and when it's cold all the time.

You can't simply hone an engine and take pistons from somebody elses car without measuring them for piston to wall clearance and installing.

Standard bore means that it's AROUND this size not EXACTLY this size. Your piston to wall clearance can be from 3 thousands of an inch (too close) to 10 thousands of an inch (too far) but all be "standard bore" It's just not that simple.
