What is the black box and gears behind the bulbs for? Ive always seen them there just never found a use, the gears dont move or anything.

does it do it eletronically as you drive? I was thinking that maybe it worked out that the faster you go the higher intensity it shot out?? can anyone clear this up for me

The Europeans got electrically-adjustable (Euro regs, apparently), but no, nothing like that in North America. We've never understood how to get decent light out of the front of a car.
I don't know what "box" you're speaking of, but the "gears" are adjusters for up/down and left/right.

how do you move them, with a button or do you twist them? because mine are tight and arnt budging anywhere soon.
