1G Quick cam swap w/ adj gears

Hey guys. I plan on putting my comp 102's in tomorrow along with my hks gears, is it possible to follow like RREs quick cam guide and install the gears one at a time? Would I have trouble? Are the stock gears straight up or do they have preset advance or retard compensation? Thank ya!

Hmm .. the stock gears dont have adjustment marks on them ...I suppose you could adjust them a whole tooth at a time, but I would not suggest that. As for changing cams and gears , yes it is possible to follow RRE and change one at a time , my question is why the gears ? in order to adjust them properly you need the motor out , non hydo lash adjuster , cam wheel and few other tools. Why not just do the cams , even then adjusting them with adjustable gears is really the the best procedure to gain the most from the cams. I Have ran cams with out adjustment and they work just fine , you get the lumpy idle and all, but yes you can change them each one at a time. I started with locking the cam gears in place and did the intake first -> then exhaust. Just be aware that if you lose timing with larger cams your piston to valve clearance is smaller and run a greater risk of ... Kabomb

When I get home I'll have to take a look. I'm scared that the adjustable gears will be more likely straight up and might be like a half a tooth or so different than the stockers just from Mitsubishi's adjustments.
