questions after changing w/pump t/belt

after changing the waterpump and timing belt my car seems to want to stall every time i stop, i had a guy change them and he says the timing was set rite, but hes not sure why its doing this.

when my water pump went as i was pulling into my driveway the car felt like it wanted to stall and chug, now its doing the same thing but everytime i stop, it'll go down to 500 rpm's for a second that back up to 1000, but when idling it sounds like its skipping a little.

when i was driving it home from his house at some red lights i would here a whining noise, maybe the timing belt is seating itself? sometimes i would hear it other i wouldn't.

i checked for vacuum leaks didn't see or hear any.

also the gas petal feels a little stiffer now like its rubbing on something, never felt like this b4.

when i got the car in December i changed the plugs/ bosh platinum and fuel filter.

any help would be great.
 
I just changed my waterpump a few days ago and put a new timing belt on and I'm having the same problem. With mine, I timed it myself and I think I got about a tooth off, so tonight I'm going to re-do it. If it fixes the problem then it's probably the timing on your car. I don't know about the gas pedal though.
 
let me know becuase its realy annoying LOL. and ill have the guy re time it.

when it idles it kinda sounds rough, but after i drive it for a while it seems to get better.
 
Haha, someone told me mine sounded like a V8 because of the sound of the idle. It is really annoying. Yeah, you should check your timing to make sure its alligned. I was going to take mine to the dealer, but they said it'd cost me 360 dollars, and I'd rather take a couple hours to take it apart and use trial and error to get my stuff alligned than drop that much money. ya i printed that out and gave it to the guy.

i took the timing belt cover thing off where u can see the 2 cam gears, the marks looked to be lined up in the center as specified in thos instructions.

does that mean its timed rite or could it be 180 off?

still have the problem, its good i can atleast drive it tho. its my only car.
 
Well my car did the exact same thing being off about a tooth. Now it runs great because I retimed it myself. It might be something else on your car, but I don't know what else it would be.
 
i just fixed the timing belt on my car 2 weeks ago so here goes first pulling that cover and looking tells nothing cause you cant see where the crank is at relative to the cams second you need to pull the whole timing cover and use a straight edge because each cam gear has two marks on them exactly 180 degrees apart line them up set the crank at 1/2 tooth btdc then put your belt on as follows go aroud the crank then the exauhst cam then the intake can keep it as tight as you can it helps to have an extra set of hands keep the cams still then once it is on rotake the engine clockwise several revolutions and recheck with the straight edge if its not right tear it down and start over another tell tail sign ove the timing being of is low vacume use a vac guage on the intake many if its realy low like 10-11 psi it could be late ignition timing mine was doing this
