Ok... I've had my '90 TSi AWD for about a year and a half two years now. I've never had any recall work done.

My transfer case locked up on me (on the highway, long story) back in January. I go to school so I have not had much time to fix it, then an employee at slowboy told me maybe I should see if their were any outstanding recalls on my car. I went to the dealership today and they said that all recalls have been done, including the transfercase back in '98, so they will not do anywork. Then after I said a few things they said bring it in and that they would check it out.

My impression was that if it is a safety recall such as a rear end locking up, even if they have worked on the problem before they have to do it again if there is undue wear or a problem is spotted. So do they have to repair it?

They will repair or replace the transfer case until they get it right, they have no choice because it is a safety recall and that means forever.
