At least those of you who haven't done a 97-99 front end conversion that have FMIC's.

What kind of intercooler do you have? I'm leaning heavilly towards doing a front end conversion based upon the fact that 1.) I think they look better and 2.) that it's easier to have a larger intercooler in there.

To those of you who didn't do the conversion, what size/kind of intercooler do you have? Pictures would be wonderful.

I originally thought about keeping my current front end, and getting a FMIC that was like this one...

or

but kinda got negaive feedback on that one. I was they wouldn't be sufficent enough to make around 350-400WHP. Another negative aspect is that I'd have to get rid of my fog lights too, which I would do, but would rather not have to do.

i also have the xs power kit fit pretty snug just had to move some stuff around and trim up the front bumper well worth the 295.

I've got a pretty large custom Navistar truck intercooler on my '95. I think it's core size is 26 x 13 x 3. It fits but it's pretty tight at the inlet/outlets. The pipe touches the bumper cover hard.

For clarification:
I have a 1995 (2Ga) and I'm interested in finding out what would be involved in converting the front bumper to a 1997+ (2Gb). By my understanding, I'd need the bumper and new headlights? Am I missing anything? Is this bumper a good deal (I'd prefer one that wasn't used)?

Nope your not missing anything, just the headlights and bumper and your done.

Ok, this question slightly goes along with this thread, so I'll ask it here rather than make another thread just for it.

I searched the site, but found nothing on it. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a 97-98 model talon front bumper? I've had virtually no luck what so ever. Hell, even ebay doesn't have any. I've thought about doing a conversion of my GST for a while, as I loved the Talon's styling. I can find the back bumper and tail lights, but the front bumper has been a real PITA.

Yeah I've been looking unsuccessfully as well. I'm pretty sure there were a lot fewer 97-98 Talons produced than 95-96. I remember reading somewhere that only 4,000 98 Talons were produced. So the problem is they're pretty rare.

what do you have to do for converting a 2ga to 2gb? i bought my 1995 gsx, and it had a 2gb front bumper on it, didnt know you have to modify something to bolt it on...

I'm running a GReddy 24R. I'm having to cut a shit ton of the edges of the air damns. It's easier if you just cut a pipesized hole...like an evo type setup. Plus, it'll look sick.

This is before I started cutting and it doesn't show the cut areas, but I'll post another once i'm done of everything I did.

I did the conversion even though my profile doesn't show it. The car came with projector lights on it and I am getting ready to convert them back to stock. I just got a FMIC and just have to take it over to my friends to make the piping. The conversion looks so much better.

2Ga front end. DV/DT Fab FMIC.

During a pull, you can think of a big FMIC as a heat sink. It doesn't need any airflow in order to cool the charge. It's like an A/W core with no fluid recirculation, it'll work great for a pull but heat soak on subsequent pulls.

I never saw any knock or other symptoms of excessive charge temps, but I was running a FP3065 on E85, only 25psi, and didn't log IAT's. I feel that the portion of IC I had exposed to airflow was sufficient, and I don't have logged data but I had repeated knock free pulls.
