I had the oil pan and pump off for a refresh, and I also am installing a new turbo and switching from on head oil feed, to the filter housing. Unfortunately I forgot to prime the oil system before I installed a new timing belt(And I'm not taking it back off).
That being said, I disconnected the fuel injectors and ignition coil and cranked the engine to prime the oil systems, I left the turbo end of the oil feed line disconnected so that I would know once oil was reaching it, and know that it was primed. I cranked the engine for probably a total of 30-60s so far and still don't have oil coming out of my feed line.
I referenced the article in this link for where to tap into the filter housing for oil feed:
http://www.roadraceengineering.com/instructions/oillineinstall.htm
And it looks like either generation oil filter housing, you just go in the middle on that side, So I removed the plug there and put my oil feed line where they show.
I'm basically wondering why I still don't have oil coming out of the turbo feed, I would think that I've cranked it enough that it should be coming out by now. I did some research, and found a suggestion to remove the brake boost nipple, remove the oil PSU and put the nipple in its place and manually pump oil into the filter housing, I started to do that, but when I started taking off the oil PSU there was already oil there-so I know the system is at least partially primed.
So how much cranking should this take? Or might there be something wrong with oil feed to turbo???
Also, unfortunately my oil pressure gauge is inop, I thought it was just a broken wire, but even after repairing the wire it seems to not be working still.
