Question about my clucth?

hey all,

I think im having a small issuse with the clutch on my 2g gst. when i go to engage 1st, it grinds then engages, and when i go to engage R, it sometimes takes a decent amoutn of force to get it go in. no the grinding dosent always happen, but its becoming more apperant lately. i checked fluids, everything seemed good. any ideas?? help!

The trouble with getting it into reverse is normal..usually does it when it's cold..when I have trouble putting it into reverse, I usually put it into second, first, then reverse. Usually works. When you engage it into 1st, how fast are you usually going when this happens?

iam in neutral, and as far as adjusting the clucth pedal, i was told by a dsm owner from around here that it wont do anything, that maybe its the rod that goes into the master cylinder?

Hey my name is Allen too! just that its spelled differently... Well adjusting your clutch pedal does help. Because after a certain amount of time, maybe some parts wore down a little bit and your pedal is not fully disengaging. Adjusting it can give it a slightly longer push for you to fully get it into gear without grinding.

No adjusting the clutch pedal could help..it might not be disengaging all the way if your clutch pedal's adjusted wrong.

Heh..I asked how fast you were going, because when I first started driving stick, I tried a couple times putting it into first..when I was going like 15 or so mph...grinded like CRAZY. I don't put it into first now unless I'm coming to a complete stop, or only going a couple mph.

i got a chiltons manual, talks about adjusting it, ill deff try that. as far as the griding, its hard to describe the noise, becuase there all diffrent, but its just this odd metal on metal sound, and if i go to engage it, and i push it till it makes the noise i can hear it start to make it and i can push the shifter in harder and the noise becomes dpeer then it finnaly engages. its embarrising, and i know it cant be healthy :thumbdown

ive seen someome do that in a dodge dakota, lets say that the after effects were...bad.

it happens to me too, i usually go into second gear before first and reverse
