Question about an eclipse

Hey

I'm thinking about purchusing a 1997 eclipse GSX. The motor was completely rebuilt not too long ago. The only problem is that one of the valves is bent right now. I don't know too much about the eclipse engine to know whether that can do major damage to the rest of the engine. Let me know is this is an alright buy.

I do not know how bent the valve is. It is only one of the valves.

Did the seller told you how that particular valve may have bent?

you see the motor has 4 valves per cilinder (16 valves) but they open and close in pairs, so I find it hard to believe that only one valve got bent, though it is posible as one of the valve guides may got loose, a spring broke or loose tension due to a bad lifter, or the impact from the piston was not too hard etc, etc, etc...

Now the damage could be as little as just a bent valve, though replacing it requieres alot of labor, or in worst case scenario a damaged piston and cilinder wall. It all comes down to how hard was the engine running at the exact moment the valve got bent.

I'll try and get more information on it. As for the price, the car is at 6500 so far on auction. Here are the specs.

you are bidding on a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse gsx (all wheel drive turbo) with a white diamond pearl paint job, 18" chrome rims with tires. the car includes blitz side skirts, blitz rear bumper with the stock front bumper that has a lip. it is dropped 2" all around, cf hood, full 3" greddy exaughst system, greddy type-s bov, turbo xs manual boost controller, 16g turbo, injen intake, 3piece strut bar set, je forged pistons, b&m short shifter, r-1 black racing seats leather back seats, indiglo gauges, air fuel and boost gaues(autometer) whole car done at magnus motorsports. completley restored and rebuilt motor. the only problem is that there is a bent vavle that needs to be replaced in the head. also the head is a 2g and the block is a 1g (which is better) car has low kms car was only driven for one summer.

The only thing to be aware of, and I had this issue when I was looking for my DSM, is even if all the work is done on the car, BE CAREFUL!!!! It seems like (atleast me and my DSM buddies) have a tendency to beat the hell out of the car. If it runs good, and its a GSX, what are you waiting for??? Or better yet, where do you live? If I send you a check, could you run it up there for me?
