I have seen a couple turbokits online for my 420a, some of the ones I can afford don't have an intercooler...the turbos aren't HUGE, so I don't know if you need an intercooler. The kit has a pipe that goes straight into the throttle body/intake manifold...is this safe?

You could do it, but why not just wait and buy one w/ and intercooler? Anywho, you should be able to run 5-6psi MAX non-intercooled on a well kept 420A engine. :dsm:

try going to ebay they have the star turbo kit for a reasonable price and it comes with a big front mount intercooler and it lets you increase the boost to 7-10 psi safely and if they dont have it they have other kits for lower price but wont have all of the necessary things you are going to need to have to increase the boost to a higher level.
