So, it looks like my t25 is on it's way out and I was thinking about having it rebuilt into a t28 by forced performance. My concern is that since it has basically the same internals as a 16g, would I have to do fuel mods to use it, or could I keep it at about 15 psi and run it like that on the street? I'm assuming that I could just keep it at around 15-16psi with my rewired fuel pump and be fine, or am I wrong?

you should have no problems bolting on a t28 with no fuel mods or anything. i had a t28 on my old 7bolt and it ran great. the turbos are the same size they just put a different size turbine in it. of course fuel mods would help greatly but not necessary. i didnt run 15psi daily but i did on track settings.

I ran a Big T28 on my car for about 8 months on the stock fuel, 15 psi sometimes 16 psi spikes were no problem.

ok cool... thats so good to hear. I really just wish I could hold 15psi to redline with a little bit of room to move up in boost, but maintain the quick spool I'm used to for taking the twisties on the mountain and backroads that I enjoy so much.

those with the t28, how did you like the spool, holding boost, and overall power? did you notice a difference between the t25 and t28?

t28 will flow higher cfm than the t25. if no boost leaks it will hold till redline. top end will be much more impressive than the t25

Mine did not hold boost until redline, the spool was the same as the T25 if not a slight bit laggier for me, and I did notice a power difference. Peak airflow I logged while I still had it was 28 lbs/min at 17 psi. It did not increase as I raised boost, so I believe that my wastegate was the problem. If you do get a T28, be sure to check out FP's 17 psi actuator upgrade--people have recommended it and jumped from 28 to 34 lbs/min on the DSMLink forums.

I had the FP big T-28 and I loved it. Spooled perfect for a daily driver and I didn't have a problem holding boost to redline. I definately noticed a difference from the stocker, especially after mixing in some 100 octane and raising the boost to 20 psi. :thumb:

cool, thanks for the tips. May have to just bite the bullet and get this done when I recover from holiday expenses.

I was going to and then a few months later, when I had all the money set up for the project, my tranny blew up taking the clutch and flywheel with it. You can imagine it was a little expensive to replace. Then I realized at 100k+ miles on the motor I should probably not be pushing my daily driver too much. I still have my spreadsheet setup for the build to... AGP RS49T, extreme intercoolers fmic, gm maf, etc. I even have the GM Maf I bought from a friend LOL. Trust me, I still really want to do a 50 trim and get the car into the 12s but I just don't have the money right now... I mean... I do, but I think I'll just pay off the car first and see what happens.

BTW, hit me up on AIM sometime... it has been a while.

I run about 20 lbs of boost at the track on my FP T28 and it has been good for a 12.43 @110. So far, I'm fairly pleased with it. I've logged 33lbs/min at 19lbs of boost with the 17psi actuator. I would strongly recommend some 550's, somthing for tuning(dsmlink), fuel pump, and a good O2 housing porting and exhaust to make the most out of it.

I have an FP B28 on my street DSM, I'm very happy with it. However, it completely maxed the stock injectors/fuel pump out by about 15psi on street fuel. I upped to 550s and a 3000GT pump in order to get the IDC to something tolerable at 18-19psi.

I use DSMLink in both cars, so I do have complete control and logging, I wouldn't want to play with this without.
