Pulls it's self out of second

I just put anothe tranny in my car and it was driving perfect, but now somtimes when i put it in second its like its in nuetral or pulls its self into nuetral..also does this in reverse but no other gears. I thought it may have been a cable but when in second it pops outta gear at 4k....i just bought the tranny and want this fixed please help???

2nd and Reverse gears could be damaged or your syncros going bad

Is your transmission seperating from the block?

Ya just a little its leaking a little fluid...and ya i bought the tranny from autozone for 1k...big mistake but i'm buying a rear ended eclipse from the junk yard..another motor and tranny for me...But would the syncro cause it to drop out of gear at 4k rpm.....

It's not the syncho's... it's the dogs (common name for them). AKA syncho keys... could also be severely worn gears, but typically you'd have shifting problems too.

Well now 2 4th and rev are all out.....but 1st has its own syncro 2nd and 3rd have one and 4th and 5th...but it never grinded going into gears so i know its not the syncros...but now it fells like my shifter has been moved back....i know that sounds weird but now when i put it in first its an inch behind were it use to be....could it be the shifter cales...or i also heard a bold on the inside may be loose causing the whole shaft to be able to move??

I am going with the shifter cables as well. Had the same proble and I had to drive 1st 3rd and 5th all the way home about 15 miles once. Check the cables where they hook up to the tranny, the boot may be torn, and if it is then you need new cables. HTH good luck.

A few guys beat me too it but its the gods not syncros. bad syncros will cause it to grind going into gears dogs hold it in gear.

The cables are out of adjustment had a car for a year and a half and had to fix a cable end and then adjusted it a little and all the gears work great before i couldn't get it into reverse without grinding. Check for play on the ends and connection if there are any then carefull use of epoxy can take up the slack. good luck

well the mount that the cable runs threw rite on top of the tranny has a rubber peice on it...it slipped out of this rubber piece

i know it aint the syncros...i just ajusted the cables and all the gears were fine but they unajust themselves

Would a 1g shifter cables work..because i know somone with new ones.

I would check the shifter bushings in the console under the shifter as well they could have worn rubber or the shifter housing could be bent or damaged.

i just went through them all checking then and greasing them...ik were its worn
