This is what the engine bay looked like when we first got it in the garage with the valve cover off.

The Diagnosis and The Plan
When we started taking everything apart we found that it was the number 2 rod that had spun a bearing and the main bearing in the very front looked like it was about to go too. It looked like when the crank was cut they never polished it because it was rough to the fingernail on every rod and main journal. The grooves were perfectly spaced so thats why I think its from machining. I ordered a new OEM crank and a single Eagle H beam rod and plan on replacing them. I also got a recirculated O2 housing off of ebay instead of the dump pipe because I don't want it to be too loud. I took the pan and valve cover to school to clean them. It looks like it was running REALLY rich. I think it is because the only tuning tool it has is the MAFT and no way to log it. The Chinese turbo also has a little shaft play so I think I'm gonna switch it with the 14b from my 93 tsi that I'm getting ready to junk until I can afford a real evo 3. I really need to get a way to tune it but I'm running low on money until I can sell my other car and my rebuild 6-bolt. Any suggestions or help will be appreciated. Thanks guys.
