pulling axels.....

Which side? I usually do the two 17mm bolts that hold the spindle to the strut, and the brake line mount on the strut. Then pushing down on the spindle/lower a arm it will pull out.

Pass. side is held in the tranny by an internal clip, and you sometimes have to pry with a big screwdriver between the tranny and axle to pop it out.
Driver side has the same internal clip just not into the tranny, but into the bearing.

The drivers side also has a mounting bracket with two bolts from the halfshaft to engine block i think.
Then pry like a SOB!

My driver side axle took very little effort to remove by prying. My friends driver axle was horrible, we had to remove the axle+carrier shaft assembly then use a mini sludge to beat them seperate.

My drivers side slid right out. There are two bolts that are on the block, make sure you get those as well. I unbolted teh two 17mm strut bolts, the sway bar bolts, and off course the large 32mm nut. Then you should be able to angle the rotor down and with enough force you can angle it out.

Passenger side just the same. Except there is a little metal clip that helps this one stay on. You have to use a large screwdriver or something of that nature and kind of pry it out.

thank....engines out:thumb: but i only got part of the axels i think....there are still both pieces in the block and tranny....but since im swapping the tranny i can leave that on in there....same for the block on the rs-t? or are the axels different on a fwd

no i have an awd in which a spun a bearing...so i bought my friends fwd eclipse to pull the motor out of....im taking my tranny off and putting it on the eclipses motor....i left part of the axel in my tranny (awd tranny) and part in the old motor.....if i do the same for the fwd motor can i use the axel off the fwd (leave it in the motor side or driverside) and leave my existing axel in my tranny since im swapping the transmission anyway?

None of the the axles go into the "motor". One goes into the transmission (passenger side), and the other goes into the equal length axle shaft, which then goes into the transmission, which basically allows for equal length axle shafts on the AWD.

Either way, just resuse both AWD axleshafts, as they will be in the transmisison/axle shaft already.

ok...heres what i have gotten out of the car axel wise....so i should take out the rest and use it huh?
